Young girl killed in accident involving a tractor-trailer

On Behalf of | May 12, 2023 | Personal Injury

The major highways and interstates across the state of Ohio are heavily utilized by tractor-trailers and other large commercial vehicles. Encountering one of these large trucks is a common daily occurrence. Because tractor-trailers are so big, motorists must be extra-cautious when sharing the road with them. Unfortunately, truck accidents involving passenger vehicles often prove to be serious or fatal.

Recent truck accident claims a life

A recent accident in Columbus involving a tractor-trailer claimed the life of a young girl and seriously injured her stepmother. The accident happened during the morning hours on North High Street near Lazelle Road East. According to accident reports, the tractor-trailer crashed into the vehicle occupied by the 11-year-old girl and her stepmother.

Tragically, the child was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Her stepmother and the driver of the tractor-trailer were injured and taken to a local hospital. Officials said the girl was a 6th grade student at a local middle school. The roadway was closed for several hours while the accident was investigated and cleared.

What can be done in the aftermath?

One should never assume that truck drivers are immune to accidents just because they drive for a living. Truck drivers often travel hundreds of miles per day and sometimes drive fatigued, which can be very hazardous. Those in Ohio who have suffered injuries or the loss of loved ones in truck accidents caused by negligence have the right to obtain the services of a lawyer and file a claim. Damages from a successfully litigated lawsuit can help to ease the path forward from such a devastating tragedy.
